Team Dominates Winning 6-8 Events
Menzies Motorsports made a remarkable debut in its inaugural CORR season here today at the Fairplex, CORR’s newest track, by winning the Pro 2, Pro Buggy and Single Buggy classes and scoring seven top-five finishes. Menzies Super Team consists of six drivers competing in four classes—Single Buggy, Pro Buggy, Pro Lite and Pro 2. Four of its drivers (Menzies, Fraley, Freeman and Krahenbuhl) are competing for Rookie of the Year honors.
Veteran Rob MacCachren set the stage for Menzies Motorsports and swept the Pro 2 and Pro Buggy division. He began Saturday’s Pro 2 race on the pole for Menzies Motorsports and sponsor Rockstar. He battled Ricky Johnson and his No. 9 Red Bull truck for the majority of the race in a “battle of the energy drinks,” securing the win following a Lap 10 caution flag. On Sunday’s Pro 2 race, he started behind Carl Renezeder, but worked his way to the front early and never relinquished the lead.
MacCachren dominated the Pro Buggy class in both Saturday and Sunday’s races, winning both handedly.
Not to be outdone, Bryan Freeman matched MacCachren’s efforts, securing easy wins in the Single Buggy class on Saturday and Sunday, sweeping the weekend’s Single Buggy competition. Brock Krahenbuhl ran alongside Freeman in his CORR debut. Although he had a strong race, he fell short of Freeman’s flair.
In the Pro Lite class, Bryce Menzies and Bruce Fraley competed against CORR’s heavy hitters, but fell only nine seconds short of a top-five finish. Menzies finished sixth on both days, with Fraley missing two laps on Saturday and finishing 11th on Sunday.
Larry Job ran alongside MacCachren in the Pro Buggy class, finishing fourth on Saturday and tenth on Sunday.
The next event for Menzies Motorsports will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nev., May 17-18, 2008. Check your local listings for television air times.
