Menzies “Super Team” Looking to Dust Competition in ‘08

Menzies Motorsports is entering the 2008 Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) season with high expectations for a first year team – winning championships in all four classes, contending for Rookie of the Year honors, and establishing themselves as the premier team in CORR.

With one look around their Las Vegas shop at its Grand Opening last week, two observations immediately came to mind: those aren’t unrealistic expectations and this team is going to have a lot of fun working to achieve those goals.

Backed by the deep pockets of Steve Menzies, Menzies Motorsports’ “Super Team” consists of Rob MacCachren driving a Pro 2 truck and Pro Buggy, Bryce Menzies and Bruce Fraley competing in the Pro Lite truck class, Larry Job driving a Pro Buggy and Bryan Freeman and Brock Krahenbuhl competing in the Single Buggy division. Between Bryce, Bruce, Bryan and Brock—referred to as the Killer B’s—Menzies has four drivers contending for Rookie of the Year honors.

BFGoodrich Tires and Fox Shox are backing this team as its primary sponsors for the 2008 season. “Between Steve, BFG and Fox Shox, our team has incredible support,” MacCachren said. “Now, we just have to win races. My goal, as always, is to win championships and I look forward to winning many with Menzies.” Other team supporters include Caltime Metals, MSD Ignitions, Mastercraft, KMC Wheels and Kartek Wheels.

“Coming into this year, our team is looking to go straight to the top,” said Bryce Menzies. “We have a well-funded and seasoned team that is ready to win. We like to go by the saying, ‘If you aren’t first, your last.’”

MacCachren will not only pilot the Pro 2 truck and Pro Buggy, but serve as this team’s leader and mentor. With so many accolades and championships, MacCachren is easily one of the best off-road drivers ever. “The opportunity to be a mentor to such an integrated and talented team is an honor,” said MacCachren. “I’m sure there will be a day when they are bumper-checking me during a race to get me out of their way.”

In 2007, Bryce Menzies and Fraley led the Single Buggy class and placed first and second, respectively, in the class championship. Bryce Menzies also won Rookie of the Year honors. This year, they will both move up to the Pro Lite class and be in contention for Rookie of the Year honors again. “I’m ready to begin the season,” said Fraley. “Bryce and I have a side bet going that whoever wins between us will shave the other’s head and I don’t look good bald.”
Job, the oldest member of the team will pilot a Pro Buggy. “Although I’m the ‘old man’ on this team, I’m looking forward to showing these young guys what it takes to win,” said Job laughingly. “We are competitive with each other, but we are also a very close knit team and pull for one another to win.”

Krahenbuhl is the latest addition to the team and will compete in the Single Buggy class alongside Freeman. They will both be contending for Rookie of the Year as well. “With my motocross background, off-road racing will be an interesting change,” said Krahenbuhl. “As the newbie on the team, I want to learn from everyone and win races. I’m looking forward to my first CORR season.”

With the first race only a week away, the team is ready to race. “I am really excited for what lies ahead for this team,” said Freeman. “Coming from a desert racing background, this will be a new challenge for me and I am looking forward to it. It’s going to be a fun year.”

Menzies Motorsports will debut in the CORR series on April 25, 2008 when the season begins in Pomona, Calif. For television coverage, check your local listing or log on to www.corracing.com.

Menzies Motorsports is owned and operated by Steve Menzies, a Las Vegas businessman and is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nev. The Menzies Motorsports team consists of six drivers in four classes of CORR.
